John Collins spent the early part of his career as a radio journalist, newsreader and presenter working on some of the biggest radio networks in the country. His dulcet tones have been heard on stations as varied as Heart, BRMB, Galaxy, Real, BFBS and LBC as well as appearances on Sky News Radio and the ITV News Channel.

Major stories he has worked on during his career include three General Elections, the Lozells riots, the London Bombings, several political party conferences, the Aston shootings trial, the collapse of MG Rover and industrial disputes at Cadbury, Jaguar-Land Rover and LDV.
Specialising in political, crime and court reporting he has a degree in both Political Science and Radio Journalism and has recently left his positions as Deputy Programmer Controller for Heart 100.7 in Birmingham and Global Radio’s Regional News Editor for all of their West Midlands stations.

Outside of radio, he has lectured for the London College of Communication, Birmingham City University and Nottingham Trent University as well as undertaking media training for the University of Birmingham, British Transport Police, BT and Leicestershire County Council. He has also been invited to address conferences for both the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and PR Week magazine.

His recent hosting work includes events for Sector Marketing, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, the Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT and Cancer Research UK. Living in Birmingham and now working for Heart 106 in Nottingham, John is available for work in both the East and West Midlands.
